Horse Chestnut is a wood that has very little value other than as a spectacular ornamental parkland tree but unfortunately it is being attacked by a fungus that is slowly killing them off.
The tree that this piece of burr came from is one such casualty. The figure in the burrs is amazing and I use dyes and stains to make that figure 'pop'. The natural edge of the vessel has been enhanced with 22.5ct champagne gold leaf.
