This tall decorative urn is made from highjly figured English Sycamore (Acer pseudoplatanus), which naturally is a very white wood with no apparent figure. This piece came from the crotch of a very large tree which is why it is heavily figured. To make the figure really stand out that I have dyed it with colour fast stains that not only emphasise the figure but give it a contemporary look. The spiral decoration has been hand carved, then left un-coloured to show the contrast between to the two. The Boxwood lid has a hand chased thread and a corresponding Blackwood inserted ring. This piece has a sprayed laquer finish that has been burnished to a high gloss.
It measures 120mm x 330mm ( 4 3/4" x 13")
It has acapacity of 200cl (122 cu in)
